This front and back garden renovation reflects a gentle yet impactful upgrade that embraces contemporary design principles while maintaining harmony with the existing landscape. The gardens are thoughtfully crafted to encourage a sense of exploration and engagement with the natural environment.
In the front garden, we expanded the width of the path using bluestone pavers and gravel to guide visitors towards the home, ensuring a smooth flow and inviting stroll. A standout feature is the ornamental handcrafted Thai planter, which serves as a stunning focal point. Accompanied by a cluster of matching pots on the verandah, this design encourages slow, mindful movement as guests approach the front door.
The new courtyard garden allows for views outside past bluestone steppers and plants planted within the gravel. A newly installed water bowl adds a tranquil touch, attracting birds, bees, and butterflies, thereby bringing movement and life to this contemporary sanctuary.
The garden’s elevation is thoughtfully designed, incorporating pots planted with a combination of pillar, filler, and spiller plants. This layered approach not only creates a visually engaging experience but also enhances the overall rhythm and texture of the space. The focus on low-maintenance planting ensures that the garden remains beautiful with minimal effort, showcasing seasonal changes that delight throughout the year.
In contrast, the back garden has undergone significant planting changes, aimed at promoting a thicker, more densely layered experience. Strategic plantings along the north boundary introduce height, creating a lush backdrop that offers privacy and visual interest. The selection of shade-loving plants with flowers adds life to the perimeter of the garden, enhancing the overall aesthetic.
Closer to the house, perennials are thoughtfully planted, ensuring visibility from the outdoor entertaining area. This arrangement not only invites guests to admire the garden but also fosters a connection between interior and exterior spaces, enhancing the enjoyment of outdoor living.
