This beautifully designed front garden exemplifies the art of transforming a challenging space into a harmonious and functional sanctuary. The long, narrow layout and the home’s architectural height have been thoughtfully balanced, creating a welcoming and visually engaging environment.
To address the linear proportions, tall fastigiate deciduous trees were planted along the fence line, offering privacy from neighbouring properties while introducing vertical interest. Their slender form complements the scale of the home and frames the garden’s boundary without overwhelming it.
The double driveway and paths, crafted from honed grey aggregate, exude a modern aesthetic while seamlessly blending with the planting. A designated “break-out” area in front of the porch serves as a functional and inviting space, perfect for extended farewells and moments of immersion in the garden.
The break-out area, crafted from bluestone batten pavers in a herringbone pattern, offers a timeless elegance and serves as a focal point in the garden's design. It not only enhances the entrance but provides a tranquil spot for relaxation, blending practicality with aesthetic appeal.
The planting palette combines lush greenery with bursts of seasonal colour. Hardy perennials, such as lavender and salvia, line the pathways, filling the air with a calming fragrance. Ornamental grasses add texture and movement, creating a dynamic contrast to the structured hardscaping. Low-growing ground covers like dichondra cascade gently over edges, softening the transitions and adding a lush carpet of green.
Thoughtfully placed garden lighting transforms the space after sunset, emphasizing architectural features and illuminating key plants. Soft, warm LEDs along the pathway ensure safety while casting a gentle glow, creating an inviting ambiance for evening gatherings.
